Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo has welcomed the competition for places in Ghana’s midfield, saying healthy rivalry among players can help raise the standard of the national team.
Sibo believes having several quality players competing for positions is beneficial to the Black Stars because it encourages every player to work harder and give their maximum whenever they are given the opportunity to represent the country.
The midfielder stressed that competition should not create division within the squad but should instead motivate players to improve their performances and contribute positively to the team.
“We need to be competitive every time in the team,” Sibo said.
According to the midfielder, competition becomes particularly important when players are fighting for positions in the same area of the pitch. He believes having alternatives in every position gives the coaching staff more options while also pushing players to maintain high standards.
“If we have players who play the same position, it is very good for everyone because we push ourselves to give our best to the nation,” he added.
Sibo’s comments come as the Black Stars continue to prepare for their upcoming assignments, with competition for places expected to be intense across several positions.
The midfield is one of the areas where Ghana has a number of players capable of competing for selection. For Sibo, the presence of quality players should be viewed as an advantage rather than a problem.
