Asante Kotoko have confirmed the departure of head coach Eric Tinkler after agreeing to release the South African tactician from his contract with immediate effect.
In an official statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, the Porcupine Warriors announced that Tinkler requested to be released from his duties for personal reasons, with the Board of Directors approving the request after discussions aimed at persuading him to remain at the club.
According to the club, both parties held constructive negotiations in an attempt to prevent the separation but ultimately respected the coach’s decision to step down.
Kotoko stressed that professionalism, commitment and complete focus remain essential to achieving the club’s performance targets and long-term sporting ambitions.
The club also expressed its appreciation to Tinkler for his professionalism and dedication during his brief spell in charge, wishing him every success in the next chapter of his coaching career.
Despite the coaching change, Asante Kotoko insist they remain fully committed to their objectives for the season. The club revealed that the technical team will continue implementing its sporting strategy under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo while plans for the future are pursued.
