Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Sarfo Oduro has apologised to supporters following the Black Stars’ disappointing defeat to The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars suffered a painful 4-2 loss to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium, after throwing away a two-goal lead in a match that left many Ghanaian fans frustrated.
Reacting to the result, Nana Sarfo Oduro appealed to Ghanaian supporters, particularly those who had placed bets on the national team, to forgive the team for the disappointment.
“We plead with Ghanaian Gen Z youths (investors) whose bets got spoiled to forgive us. We will make amends,” he said in an interview with Asempa FM.
The defeat has increased pressure on head coach Carlos Queiroz and the Black Stars, who are searching for consistency after a difficult start to their AFCON qualifying campaign.
Ghana are expected to regroup ahead of their next qualifiers as the technical team works to address the defensive lapses and improve results.
