Ghana defender Kojo Oppong Peprah remains optimistic that the Black Stars can still qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations despite their disappointing start to the qualifying campaign.
The four-time African champions are bottom of Group C after suffering consecutive defeats, losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké before throwing away a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 to The Gambia in Accra.
Despite the setbacks, the Fenerbahçe defender believes Ghana can turn things around.
“Not the international break we hoped for. We failed to get the results we wanted, but the journey isn’t over yet.”
“We will learn, regroup, and come back stronger. The fight continues, and we will give everything we have to put our nation back where it belongs. Together, we keep fighting.”
The disappointing results led to the departure of head coach Carlos Queiroz, with the Ghana Football Association now searching for a new manager to lead the national team.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s planned international friendly against Morocco has been cancelled following the Black Stars’ defeat to The Gambia.
Oppong Peprah has since returned to Turkey to rejoin Fenerbahçe, as Black Stars players head back to their respective clubs ahead of the resumption of domestic football.
