Former Ghana assistant coach Didi Dramani has expressed confidence in Kim Lars Björkegren’s ability to lead the Black Stars, citing the coach’s experience, professional pedigree and the quality of his technical team as important factors that could help restore stability to the national side.
Dramani believes Björkegren possesses the credentials required for the job and could benefit from his previous exposure to the Ghanaian football environment as he takes on the responsibility of guiding the senior men’s national team.
Speaking about the Swedish coach’s suitability for the position, Dramani highlighted his background and previous experience in the country as qualities that could support his work with the Black Stars.
“I think that he (Kim Lars Björkegren) has the pedigree, I think he was there briefly, so at least he has something that can also help,” Dramani said.
The former Ghana assistant coach’s remarks suggest that Björkegren’s familiarity with the local football environment could prove useful as he seeks to understand the expectations surrounding the national team and establish an effective working relationship with Ghanaian players and officials.
Beyond the head coach’s individual qualifications, Dramani also stressed the importance of having a strong technical team capable of supporting the implementation of his ideas.
He believes Björkegren has the ability to lead the team and can rely on qualified assistants to help create the right conditions for the Black Stars to operate effectively.
“He (Kim Lars) is a high-level coach who has the ability, and the people to assist him are also high-level coaches, to be able to have the right local culture that can be able to function for the team to be more stable,” Dramani added.
His comments place emphasis on the need for a balanced technical structure in which the head coach’s expertise is complemented by capable assistants and a proper understanding of Ghana’s football culture.
For the Black Stars, establishing stability will require more than appointing a coach with an impressive background. The technical team must also develop a clear playing philosophy, build strong relationships with the players and create an environment that supports consistent performances.
The involvement of knowledgeable local personnel could be important in helping the coach understand the expectations of Ghanaian supporters, the strengths of the available talent and the demands of international competition.
Björkegren’s ability to work effectively with his technical staff and adapt his methods to the team’s needs will therefore be central to the process of building a competitive side.
Dramani’s assessment highlights two key elements he believes could support the coach’s work: his professional pedigree and the quality of the people around him. He also points to the importance of creating the right local culture to help the team function more effectively.
With expectations remaining high among Ghanaian football supporters, the focus will be on how the technical leadership translates its experience and ideas into performances and results on the pitch.
