AshantiGold 04 midfielder Justice Blay has dismissed suggestions of personal animosity towards Asante Kotoko, insisting that his focus is on giving his best and helping his current club secure victory.
Speaking to Akoma 87.9 FM, Blay said he has no personal issues with Kotoko and is concentrating on preparing for the upcoming fixture as AshantiGold 04 seek a positive result.
“Football is a game, and we are preparing very well for it. I have no personal issues with Kotoko,” Blay told Akoma FM.
The midfielder, who previously played for Asante Kotoko, stressed that his responsibility is to perform to the best of his ability and contribute to his team’s success. Despite the attention surrounding a potential meeting with his former club, he maintains that the contest should be treated as a football match rather than an opportunity to settle personal scores.
“My responsibility is to give my best and help my team secure victory. I am very happy at AshantiGold 04 and enjoying my life here,” he added.
Blay’s comments reflect his determination to remain focused on his current responsibilities at AshantiGold 04, where he says he is happy and settled. The midfielder appears determined to put the interests of his present club first as preparations continue for the encounter against Kotoko.
His history with the Porcupine Warriors is likely to attract attention ahead of the fixture, given the interest that often surrounds players facing their former teams. However, Blay has made it clear that his motivation is not driven by personal feelings towards Kotoko but by his desire to help AshantiGold 04 achieve their objectives.
The midfielder’s message also reinforces his commitment to his current team. By emphasising that he is enjoying life at AshantiGold 04, he has expressed satisfaction with his present situation and a willingness to contribute positively to the club.
For Blay, the priority is to approach the match professionally, give his maximum effort and help his teammates secure the desired result. He recognises football as a competitive game in which both sides will be eager to win, making preparation and performance more important than personal narratives surrounding the fixture.
His comments are expected to add further interest to the meeting between AshantiGold 04 and Asante Kotoko, particularly among supporters familiar with his previous association with the Kumasi-based club.
Blay, however, has chosen to focus on the task ahead, insisting that he has no personal issues with Kotoko and that his responsibility is to give his best for AshantiGold 04.
