Debibi United head coach Isaac Nii Armah has revealed how his side carefully studied Hearts of Oak ahead of their Ghana Premier League encounter before exploiting defensive weaknesses to secure victory.
Armah disclosed that his technical team spent the entire week analysing Hearts of Oak’s previous matches, paying particular attention to their defensive organisation and how they dealt with attacks from the flanks.
According to the coach, the technical team identified opportunities to hurt the Phobians through the wide areas and ensured that their tactical approach was designed to take advantage of those weaknesses.
He explained that although Debibi United approached the encounter with respect for the former Ghanaian champions, they remained determined to impose their own style of play and prevent their opponents from executing their usual strengths.
Speaking after the match, Armah said:
🎙️ “We analysed Hearts of Oak’s games throughout the week and identified a weakness in their defence, particularly when opponents attack through the flanks. That is exactly what we exploited.
We respected them, but we also nullified their strengths, played to our own strengths and capitalised on their weaknesses. The scoreline could have been different, perhaps 2-0 or 3-0 — but we are satisfied with the result.”

The coach further suggested that his team had opportunities to extend their advantage, believing that Debibi United could have scored two or even three goals based on the chances created during the encounter.
His comments underline the tactical preparation that went into the victory, with Debibi United demonstrating the importance of studying opponents, identifying weaknesses and executing a well-planned match strategy.
For Hearts of Oak, the defeat will raise questions about their defensive organisation, particularly their ability to deal with opposition attacks through the wide areas.
