Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew reaffirmed his dedication to delivering his best for the team, even when deployed out of his preferred position.

The 32-year-old Crystal Palace player garnered attention with his stellar performance, netting a hat trick in Ghana’s thrilling 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic during Monday night’s 2026 World Cup qualifier at Baba Yara Stadium.

In a post-match interview, Ayew expressed his readiness to adapt for the national team, stating, “I’ve been playing out of position for quite some time both in the national team and at the club level. But I have always done my duty, put my country first, and never complained because I always give my all.”

When queried about his favored position, Ayew elaborated, “It’s difficult. It’s not something that I like to talk about but obviously, my favourite position right from the academy, France, in the national team has always been as a number 9. But I understand because I have qualities that allow me to play in the pockets of spaces, and I don’t complain.”

With his remarkable hat trick on Monday night, Ayew’s tally for Ghana now stands at 28 goals, cementing his position as the country’s 6th all-time top scorer.

The resounding victory catapults the Black Stars to the summit of Group I with nine points, signaling a promising trajectory in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
