Following Asamoah Gyan’s official retirement from football, former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has expressed his admiration and respect for Gyan while urging him to continue contributing to the growth of Ghanaian football.
Gyan made the announcement during the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meeting at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday.
In his retirement statement, Gyan emphasized that he believed it was the right time to step away from the game. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had and the support he received throughout his illustrious career.
Reacting to Gyan’s retirement, Stephen Appiah, a fellow Ghanaian football legend, took to social media to pay tribute to his former teammate.
Appiah acknowledged Gyan’s unwavering passion for the sport and highlighted that this retirement marks the end of a chapter rather than the end of his contribution to Ghanaian football.
Appiah encouraged Gyan to use his experience and expertise to nurture the next generation of football legends in Ghana. He conveyed his well wishes to Gyan, acknowledging the impact he has made throughout his career.
In his tweet, Appiah stated, “Up to the twilight of your career till your retirement there’s one thing I’ve seen you exhibit, PASSION. I want you to know that it is only an end to a chapter. You have more to contribute to raising the next generation of legends. A career well-lived bro… Wish you well.”
