24-year-old Fortuna Sittard midfielder Deroy Duarte has praised South Africa for their wonderful performance against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on Saturday night.
Sharing his thoughts on Bafana Bafana, the Dutch-born applauded the physique of the South Africans.
“They are physically very strong”, said Duarte. Bafana Bafana never got tired throughout the entire 120 minutes as they were superior to the Blue Sharks.
“A lot of players play in the same team also, so they know each other so well”, added Duarte.
Eight of Hugo Broos’ first 11 are Mamelodi Sundowns’ players. The other three play for Al Ahly Cairo, Tondela and Orlando Pirates. The understanding is there in the South African team as they know almost each other.
South Africa defeated Cape Verde on penalties and will face Nigeria in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
