Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has confirmed he will miss the 2023 AFCON to be played in January and February in Ivory Coast.
The 30-year-old French-born central midfielder said, “For the moment, I don’t think I’m going to make CAN 2023. I think I will stay with the Everton jersey and I want to concentrate on my Everton career”.
The former French Under 17,18,19,20 and 21 player switched nationality to play officially for Mali in 2022 and has made 2 appearances for the Eagles of Mali. He has been absent for nearly a year
Mali will not miss his absence in AFCON 2023 as they have enough central midfielders who are as equally good as Abdoulaye Doucoure with Yves Bussouma, Cheick Doucoure and Aliou Dieng available.
