Ghana defender Abdul Mumin is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a severe knee injury during a match against Sevilla.
The Rayo Vallecano center-back was forced off in the 35th minute of a game that ended in a 1-1 draw, and Spanish media reports confirm that the 26-year-old will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Mumin has been a standout player for Vallecano this season, featuring in 24 of the 26 La Liga matches and leading the league in blocks.
His absence not only weakens the club’s defensive line but also poses a setback for Ghana’s Black Stars, who are preparing for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24, respectively.
While Mumin is expected to miss these important fixtures, there is optimism that he could make a comeback in time for the later rounds of the qualification matches.
The defender has also earned two caps for Ghana’s senior national team, underlining his importance both at club and international levels.
