Burkina Faso’s 35-year-old midfielder, Adama Guira, who plays for Racing Rioja started against Algeria in a double pivot role alongside Ibrahim Blati Toure in the 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Ismahila Ouedraogo replaced Guira in the 39th minute after suffering a serious ruptured Achilles tendon ligament in his left foot.
It’s a big blow to Guira and Burkina Faso as he is set to be out for 4 to 6 months.
