Despite suffering a heavy defeat against Accra Lions, Aduana Stars’ head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, remains confident in his team’s ability to win the Premier League title.
Aduana’s hopes of clinching the title took a major blow when they were thrashed 3-0 by Accra Lions on Saturday.
The Lions opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a deflected free kick from Apiiga finding the back of the net. Isaac Mintah had a golden opportunity to equalize just before halftime, but his effort missed the target.
In the second half, Aduana pushed for a comeback, but with 15 minutes left on the clock, Evans Botchway doubled the Lions’ lead. Six minutes later, Bassit headed home Apiiga’s cross to secure the third goal for the hosts.
Reflecting on the defeat and its impact on their title aspirations, Fabin expressed his team’s determination to bounce back.
In an interview with StarTimes, he stated, “Well, it has affected our chances, but we are not giving up yet. I believe we still have a chance to win, so we will continue working.”
Aduana’s lead at the top of the table was reduced to just one point after Bechem United secured a victory over Legon Cities, moving into second position.
Medeama after thrashing Hearts of Oak are on top of the log, a point above Aduana who are now on second. Aduana will host Dreams FC in their next game, aiming to regain momentum and keep their title hopes alive.
