Ghana captain Andre Ayew extended his goal-scoring record at the Africa Cup of Nations on Friday as he netted a superb strike against Gabon.
Ayew, who become Ghana’s all-time top scorer at the Afcon in 2019, put the Black Stars ahead in the 19th- minute mark of the game but Gabon struck late to earn a point.
The goal took his tally to 10 goals, becoming the first Ghanaian to reach double figures for goals at Afcon.
Also, he becomes the fourth player to score in a record six different Afcons, matching legendary attackers Samuel Eto’o Kalusha Bwalya, and Asamoah Gyan.
The Qatar-based forward made his Black Stars debut as a teenager in 2007 and has since played 102 games, seven behind record-holder Gyan.
Ayew has netted 23 goals for Ghana.
The Al Sadd star picked the man of the match award but didn’t look happy, at all, because the draw leaves the Black Stars facing a nervous final game against Comoros on Tuesday.
They must win on Tuesday to stand a chance of progressing from the group.
