Former Black Stars star Augustine Ahinful has praised Mohammed Kudus’ incredible rise since joining West Ham United from Ajax.
The midfield player had a rough start to his stint at the team after arriving, but he has since enjoyed success.
In his 18 Hammers games, Kudus has contributed directly to seven goals—scoring six and setting up one in all competitions.
According to Ahinful, the Black Stars could have a good tournament in Ivory Coast if Kudus is able to stay away from injury.
“I’m not surprised at all [at his recent performances] because when he first went to West Ham, we kept complaining about why the coach was not using him. The coach, who works with the team day in and day out, knew what he was doing,” Arhinful explained to Joy Sports.
“I think since the time he was integrated into the team, we have seen his performance keep going up. We should just hope that he doesn’t get himself injured,” he added.
“He playing well will also affect our national team positively, so we should continue to guide him, advise him, and hope for the best for him.”
Kudus will be hoping to sparkle when he plays at his first AFCON tournament in January next year with Ghana facing Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique in Ivory Coast.
