In Malabo, at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo, AFCON-bound Equatorial Guinea played a 1-1 draw against lowly Djibouti.
San Jose Earthquake’s defender, Carlos Akapo, put the host ahead in the 15th minute. Samuel Akinbinu equalised in the 70th minute for Djibouti. Equatorial Guinea will be very disappointed to not round up their preparations with a win ahead of the 2023 AFCON against Djibouti.
Avram Grant’s Zambia shared the spoils with Cameroon in a very competitive friendly game. Patson Daka put the Chipolopolo ahead in the 11th minute with Darling Yongwa levelling the score for the Indomitable Lions at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Djamel Belmad’s Algeria ended their preparations in a grand style with a 4-0 evisceration of Burundi in Lome. Baghdad Bounedjah and Riyad Mahrez gave the Fennex Foxes a commanding lead in the first half as they led 2-0. Islam Slimani and Mohamed Amoura added the 3rd and 4th goals in the 87th and 93rd minute to ensure perfect preparations for Algeria.
Algeria has had a very good moment in Togo as they have enjoyed the weather, won 7-0 in two matches combined and felt the atmosphere in Western Africa ahead of the AFCON.
