Mehdi Terami levelled the score on the stroke of halftime for Iran.
Omid Ebrahimi’s 70th-minute strike was enough to record a 2-1 win for Iran.
In Lome, the much fancied Algeria thrashed Togo by 3-0. Dortmund defender Ramy Bensabaini gave the Algerians the lead in the 20th minute. Islam Slimani added the second in the 55th minute with Bensabaini rounding off the night perfectly with his second in the 70th minute.
Algeria’s preparations for the AFCON 2023 got off to a wonderful start as Djamel Belmadi’s Fennec Foxes will look forward to building fine momentum ahead of the 2023 AFCON with the 3-0 win over Togo.
