Ahead of their 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Ghana, Angola has been hit with an injury setback.
The Palancas Negras will be without three influential players, Núrio Fortuna, Nelson Luz, and Zito Luvumbo, due to injuries. This will make the match against Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday a difficult one for the four-time African champions.
However, coach Pedro Goncalves has called up Geraldo Costa and Tó Carneiro as late replacements for the injured players. Despite the setback, Angola will still travel to Kumasi to face the Black Stars, who have been unbeaten on their home turf for the past two decades.
The Black Stars are currently the favourites to win before the second match in Luanda.
Ghana leads the qualifying group with a draw and a win in their first two games, but Angola is not far behind and needs two wins to have a solid chance of qualifying.
