On Monday, September 4, 2023, the Black Stars embarked on their preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers’ final match against the Central African Republic (CAR).
Ghana is eager to secure a favorable outcome against the Central African Republic in this crucial fixture, which will determine their qualification for the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, scheduled for early next year.
Under the guidance of coach Chris Hughton, the Ghanaian national team kicked off their training sessions with a group of twelve players at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Among the twelve players who participated in the initial training session were the team captain, Andre Ayew, along with Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, Baba Iddrisu, Gideon Mensah, Nicholas Opoku, Joseph Aidoo, Osman Bukari, Edmund Addo, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and debutant Jonathan Sowah from Medeama SC.
Coach Hughton anticipates a full squad in Tuesday’s training session, which will also take place at the Accra Sports Stadium. Key players like Richard Ofori, Jordan Ayew, Baba Rahman, Inaki Williams, Joseph Paintsil, and Ernest Nuamah are expected to join the training.
Ghana currently leads Group E with 9 points, holding a two-point advantage over their opponents after five games. They require either a draw or a victory to secure their place in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast from January to February 2024.
