According to Portuguese reports, former Benfica head coach Rui Vitória is close to joining Al Ahly as a replacement for Pitso Mosimane.
Mosimane stepped down from his position as Al Ahly head coach after two successful years in charge.
He led the team to massive success, and with his departure, people started speculating about potential candidates for the job.
One of these candidates is former Benfica and Spartak Moscow head coach Rui Vitória, as per news outlet Record.
Vitória’s last coaching job was with Russian giants Spartak Moscow as he parted ways with the team after only 26 games in charge.
Before that, he led a number of renowned clubs, including Liga Portugal side SL Benfica where he won five major trophies including two league titles.
The Portuguese head coach had also previously worked in the middle east, leading Saudi outfit Al Nassr between January 2019 and December 2020.
During his stay in Saudi Arabia, the 51-year-old was crowned Saudi Professional League champion and Saudi Super Cup winner.
