Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly head coach Ricardo Soares has been sacked from his position, following the club’s recent disappointing results.
Following Pitso Mosimane’s departure, Portuguese manager Ricardo Soares was brought in to save Al Ahly’s season and keep them in the Egyptian Premier League title race.
However, Al Ahly’s performances have not improved since the arrival of Soares as they lost out on the title to arch-rivals Zamalek for the second consecutive season.
The club also conceded second place to Pyramids FC and has finished outside the top two for the first time since the 1991/92 season.
As a result, rumours started to emerge about Soares’ potential departure, and they only grew stronger with local news outlets claiming that Al Ahly are currently searching for a successor.
Despite that, Ricardo completely denied the rumours, stating that he’s about to prepare for the next season with the Reds.
However, according to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepúlveda, Al Ahly have made the decision to sack the Portuguese manager from his position.
