The Black Princesses of Ghana have advanced to the knockout stage of the women’s football tournament at the 13th African Games after securing two consecutive wins in the group stages.
In their second group stage match against Tanzania U20 Women’s national team at the Cape Coast Stadium, the Black Princesses faced an early setback as Tanzania equalized through Hasnath Ubamba in the 23rd minute.
However, the Ghanaian team, led by coach Yussif Basigi, displayed resilience and determination. Just before halftime, Tracey Twum’s remarkable strike leveled the score.
In the second half, talented forward Mukarama Abdulai put Ghana ahead with a goal in the 64th minute. The Black Princesses maintained their lead and controlled the game, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory at the end of 90 minutes.
With this win, the Ghana U20 women’s national team has secured a spot in the knockout stage of the football tournament at the 13th African Games.
Next, the Princesses will focus on their final Group A contest against Uganda as they aim to maintain their momentum in the tournament.
