At the ongoing 2023 African Games, Uganda’s U20 Women’s National Team clinched a bronze medal in an exciting match against Senegal at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Thursday.
The game ended in a 0-0 draw after regular time, leading to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. The Queen Cranes emerged victorious with a 6-5 win on penalties.
Key players like Shamira Nalugya, Shakirah Nankwanga, Harima Kanyago, Catherine Wujja, Shamusa Najjuma, and Catherine Nagadya all successfully converted their penalty kicks, showing great composure under pressure.
Docus Lwalisa was the only player who missed her chance. This achievement is a significant milestone for Uganda’s Women’s Football as they secure their first continental accolade.
