Former Ghanaian international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has lauded Jordan Ayew for his outstanding leadership after guiding the Black Stars to two crucial victories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.
Following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, Ghana regained momentum in their World Cup qualification journey, climbing to the top of Group I. Ayew played a pivotal role in this resurgence, scoring once and providing four assists as Ghana secured a dominant 5-0 win over Chad and a 3-0 victory against Madagascar.
Speaking on TV3’s Sports Station, Agyemang-Badu praised the new Black Stars captain for his composure and mental strength.
“He is very calm, but very calm. He has a strong mentality, and when you play with him, you will know the kind of guy he is,” he said.
The former U-20 World Cup winner also highlighted the stability in Ghana’s leadership, expressing confidence in the team’s qualification prospects.
“Now the issue of captaincy has also been sorted, and you have the likes of Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan there. Straight away we are going to America, the job is done,” he added.
The Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in September with crucial encounters against Comoros and Chad in their seventh and eighth group-stage matches.
