Avery Appiah, a Ghanaian youngster born in the Netherlands, has signed his first professional contract with Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam.
The midfielder, who is 17 years old, will be under contract until 2025.
Ajax released a statement on Wednesday announcing the signing of two youth players, one of whom was Appiah. “Avery Appiah, a 17-year-old midfielder, was born on April 2, 2006, in Zoetermeer and is also part of the Ajax U17 squad.
“He joined the Ajax youth academy in the summer of 2020 after starting his training at Sparta and then moving to the Feyenoord youth academy.”
Appiah has played six times in the 2022/23 U17 Divisie 1 Spring, scoring one goal. In total, he has played 33 games for Ajax’s U17 and U18 teams, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
Although he has represented the Netherlands U17 team five times, scoring one goal, Appiah is still eligible to play for Ghana. With his new contract, he will seek to continue developing at Ajax and strive for a place on the senior team in the near future.
