Ghana playmaker Mohammed Kudus was named “king of the match” after inspiring AFC Ajax’s thumping of SC Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday afternoon.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder scored and assisted another as the Dutch champions prevailed with a resounding 4-2 win in the end at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.
The goal was the Ghanaian’s 20th of the season for both club and country before going on to set up Edson Alvarez to double Ajax’s lead.
Moments later, Steven Bergwijn extended Ajax’s lead after latching onto a pass inside the area.
Pelle van Amersfoort scored a spectacular header just before halftime to reduce the deficit for Heerenveen.
The youthful midfielder Kenneth Taylor of Ajax scored again seven minutes after the break, and Sydney van Hooijdonk of the home team cut the margin in half in the 79th minute.
Kudus has already made 24 appearances in the Eredivisie this season, scoring 11 goals and dishing out two assists.
