Racing Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku, has expressed disappointment following his team’s stalemate against Stade Reims in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday, feels they should have the game.
Strasbourg conceded late in the game at the Stade Auguste-Delaune to record their third consecutive draw in the league.
The visitors opened the coring in the 69th minute, courtesy Jean-Ricner Bellegarde before Jens-Lys Cajuste cancelled the advantage six minutes from full-time.
“We are disappointed, because we took this goal at the end from a set piece, which hurt us a lot. It was a great match,” Djiku said.
The Ghana defender believes his side should have won at least one of the the last two matches – against Reims and OGC Nice.
“There was room to win, against Nice too. It’s a shame, considering the scenarios, we should have won at least one of the two matches”.
Strasbourg are currently sitting at the 5th position on the league standings as they hope to secure European football spot at the end of the season.
Djiku has been in incredible form for Strasbourg in the French top-flight this campaign having made 21 appearances from 27.
Meanwhile, the lanky central defender is expected to be named in Ghana interim manager Otto Oddo’s Black Stars squad for the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers play-off tie against the Super Eagles of Nigeria later this month.
