Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has committed his future to Stade Rennes, signing a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2029. Despite facing a major injury setback, Rennes has demonstrated full faith in his ability and leadership.
Seidu, who joined the French side fourteen months ago during the winter transfer window, has quickly become a key figure in the squad. His versatility—capable of playing as a right-back, left-back, or center-back—has made him an invaluable asset. His no-nonsense approach and strong leadership earned him back-to-back Player of the Month awards for September and October.
However, his momentum was halted on November 24 when he suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his left knee during a match against Lille. Despite the setback, Seidu remains determined to return stronger.
“I keep working hard every day to prepare for my comeback and get back to my pre-injury level,” he affirmed, showing unwavering resilience.
Rennes’ management has shown immense confidence in the Ghanaian defender, recognizing both his talent and his character. Executive Chairman and CEO Arnaud Pouille expressed his delight at the extension:
“His trademark smile isn’t a facade; Alidu has a genuine, wonderful aura about him. On the field, too, he knows how to assume responsibility. He’s a leader who has made his presence felt since his arrival. We’re particularly looking forward to seeing him back on the field.”
As he continues his rehabilitation, Seidu remains as committed as ever, eager to repay the club’s trust and make a strong return to action.
