Aliou Cissé has been named the new head coach of the Libyan national football team, signing a contract that will see him lead The Mediterranean Knights until 2027.
The former Senegal boss takes on this new challenge after parting ways with the Teranga Lions last year, bringing an end to his nine-year tenure.
Cissé led Senegal to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2022, having previously guided them to the final in 2019.
As part of his mandate, the Senegalese tactician will be tasked with securing Libya’s qualification for the 2027 AFCON, a key objective that could determine his long-term future with the team.
