Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu has described his UEFA Champions League debut as “unforgettable” after playing a pivotal role in his side’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Stade Louis II.

Salisu, who was making his first appearance in Europe’s premier club competition, delivered a commanding performance at the back. The Ghanaian centre-back helped contain Barcelona’s attack, contributing significantly to the French club’s triumph.

Following the match, Salisu took to Instagram to express his excitement and appreciation for the fans, writing, “An unforgettable Champions League debut in front of our incredible fans!! The atmosphere was electric, driving us on to secure the win. Let’s carry this momentum into the weekend!”

Salisu’s stats from the game reflected his immense influence on the pitch. He recorded the most touches (70), completed the most long passes (8), won the most duels (7), made the most clearances (4), and contributed two crucial interceptions. His solid defensive display earned him a FotMob rating of 7.4.

Monaco will now look to build on this momentum as they head into their next fixture, with Salisu’s performance providing a significant boost to their campaign.
