After a string of lackluster performances leading to an early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Chris Hughton’s tenure as the head coach of the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars, came to an end on Tuesday night.

The critical match against Mozambique, where a victory was imperative for AFCON progression, ended in a 2-2 draw, sealing the team’s fate.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced Hughton’s departure, along with the entire technical team, signaling the need for a new coaching staff to rejuvenate the Black Stars.

Despite Hughton’s past role as a technical advisor, the GFA is yet to name a successor.

During his 11-month tenure, Hughton managed 13 games, achieving a win-loss-draw ratio of 30.77%, 30.77%, and 38.46%, respectively. The team scored 13 goals at an average of one per match but conceded 16 times.
