Anderlecht forward, Francis Amuzu, has dismissed rumours he has opted to play for the Belgium national team despite attempts from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to get him to switch allegiance to play for the Black Stars.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a stellar season with the Belgian side during the 2021/22 season and was being tipped to get an invitation to play for Ghana.

In the early hours of Tuesday, May 24, 2022, reports emerged the player had decided to reject the opportunity to play for Ghana as he sees a better opportunity with the Red Devils.

Amuzu was reported to have mentioned in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad that the GFA had been making attempts to get him to the Black Stars but thoughts of not going too far at World Cup meant he would push for a chance with Belgium.

However, the player has debunked such reports, claiming he would not disrespect the country of his birth, the GFA or the fans.

“I would like to make an official statement regarding false comments that have been circulating the media today regarding the Black Stars🇬🇭⚽️I have massive respect for my country of birth and I love my country Ghana. I will never disrespect the country,GFA or the amazing fans🇬🇭⚽️,” tweeted the Rangers FC target.
