Ghana captain Andre Ayew scored his fifth goal of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season as Le Havre recorded a home win on Saturday afternoon.
The Ghanaian scored the last goal of the game in the 3-1 win over their rivals to move them further up on the league table.
Yassine Kechta scored his first goal of the season to put Le Havre ahead after 24 minutes played with an assist from Josue Casimir.
Kechta scored again to double the lead for the home side after the break and set the tone for all three points.
However, Strasbourg were given a lifeline in the 86th minute when Frederic Guilbert pulled one goal back for the visitors.
Ayew was on hand to restore his side’s two-goal lead late in the game as he scored with virtually the last kick of the game to make it 3-1.
With the goal on Saturday, Ayew has now scored in back-to-back league games for the first time this season taking his tally to 5 goals in the top flight.
