Former Ghana international Matthew Amoah has returned to Dutch side NAC Breda, this time joining the club’s technical team, where he will oversee the development of the team’s attacking players.

Amoah, who scored 57 goals in over 130 appearances for NAC between 2007 and 2011, will work alongside former striker Anouar Diba. The pair have been tasked with coaching and developing the club’s offensive unit, bringing their wealth of experience as former top-level forwards.

Confirming the appointments, NAC Breda Technical Director Peter Maas said: “With the addition of Matthew and Anouar, we’re adding specific expertise to the current coaching staff. Both have been doing excellent and focused work with our youth players at the NAC Youth Academy for quite some time, and they’ll now do the same with the first team.”

The move comes as NAC Breda struggles in the Eredivisie, currently sitting at the bottom of the table with 13 points from 17 matches in the 2025/26 season.

Amoah will notably collaborate with Ghana captain Andre Ayew, who joined the club until the end of the season. The partnership between the former national teammates is expected to strengthen NAC’s attacking options, as Amoah’s experience and insight guide Ayew and other forwards on tactical awareness and finishing skills.

Amoah also represented Ghana at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, earning 45 caps and scoring 12 goals for the Black Stars.

His return to NAC Breda marks a full-circle moment, moving from club legend to mentor and coach, helping shape the next generation of talent.
