Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has climbed to fifth place on the list of Ghanaian players with the most goals in English Premier League history, following his strike for AFC Bournemouth against Manchester United on Sunday.
The highly-rated striker was named in the starting lineup and delivered a strong performance for his side at the Vitality Stadium.
Semenyo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, finishing calmly after being set up by teammate Evanilson.
This latest goal takes Semenyo’s total to 18 Premier League goals, moving him ahead of Chelsea legend Michael Essien on the all-time Ghanaian scorers’ list.
The Black Stars attacker now sits just three goals behind Andre Ayew, who is in fourth place, and four behind Jeffrey Schlupp, who occupies third.
At the top of the chart, Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew leads the way with 41 goals, while Ghanaian great Anthony Yeboah is second with 24 goals.
Given his impressive form this season, Antoine Semenyo could close the gap or even catch up with Andre Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp before the campaign ends.
