Former England star Wayne Rooney has named Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo as one of the top three best players in the English Premier League this season.
Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport, Rooney snubbed Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland, noting that he has been impressed by the consistency of Semenyo at AFC Bournemouth since last season.
“I think Antoine Semenyo has been great for Bournemouth, carrying on form from last season,” Wayne Rooney said.
Besides Antoine Semenyo, the Manchester United legend picked Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres in his top three best players in the English Premier League this season.
“I also think I’d put Bryan Mbeumo in there. I think he’s been really good for Man United, even after a difficult start. I think he’s been really good.
“Third, I’d probably go Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal have been crying out for a No.9 for a few years, and he’s come in, his determination, work rate, hold-up play, the goals,” Rooney added.
Semenyo, 25, has been on fire in the English Premier League for AFC Bournemouth since the 2025/26 season commenced. He has scored six goals and provided three assists after making 11 appearances this term.
Meanwhile, Semenyo has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the Winter transfer window as possible replacement of Mohammed Salah.
