Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo made a big step in his international career by captaining the Ghana national team for the first time in their friendly match against Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup.

He wore the captain’s armband in the absence of senior players Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, and Mohammed Kudus.

Semenyo, who was born in England but chose to play for Ghana, has been part of the Black Stars since 2022 and has earned over thirty caps. His hard work, discipline, and commitment have made him an important member of the squad.

The decision by the technical team to make him captain shows the confidence they have in his leadership and the influence he brings to the attack.

Ghana fielded a young side for the match in Aichi, giving Semenyo the chance to guide several upcoming players on the pitch. Leading the team at age 25 marks a proud moment for him, as he continues to grow into one of the dependable figures in the Black Stars setup.
