Ghana international Antoine Semenyo delivered a match-winning performance as Manchester City defeated Chelsea to lift the 2025/26 FA Cup title at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The Black Stars forward played a decisive role in the tightly contested final, scoring the only goal of the game in City’s narrow 1-0 triumph over the Blues.
Both sides battled intensely in the opening half, but neither team managed to break the deadlock before the interval despite several attacking attempts in an entertaining encounter.
After the restart, Semenyo stepped up when it mattered most. The former Bournemouth attacker struck in the 72nd minute, calmly finishing to hand Manchester City the breakthrough and ultimately secure the prestigious trophy for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium during the January transfer window, the 25-year-old has quickly become an important figure for the English champions. The FA Cup success marks his second trophy with the club after already helping City win the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.
Semenyo’s impressive form has continued throughout the campaign following an outstanding first half of the season with Bournemouth, performances that earned him a high-profile move to Manchester City.
His consistency and influence in front of goal have also seen him receive recognition among the nominees for the Premier League Player of the Season award.
