Antoine Semenyo’s stunning solo effort for Bournemouth against Liverpool has etched his name into Premier League history, ranking among the competition’s longest goal-ending ball carries.

The Ghanaian forward’s dazzling run covered 52.4 metres, placing him 10th on the all-time list for goal-ending carries since data recording began in the 2015/16 season. His strike edged past Jesse Lingard’s 51.6-metre effort for Manchester United in 2021 to enter the top 10.

Remarkably, Semenyo’s goal is also the third-longest in the league since 2021/22, trailing only Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi (54.7m) and Anthony Elanga (54.1m) — both of which, coincidentally, came against Manchester United.

The memorable moment unfolded in the 76th minute of Bournemouth’s season opener at Anfield, when Semenyo picked up possession inside his own half. In a burst of pace and power, he surged forward, shrugging off challenges from Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, before coolly finishing low past Alisson Becker to make it 2-2.

Although Bournemouth eventually fell 4-2 to the defending champions, Semenyo’s strike highlighted both his individual brilliance and the Cherries’ counter-attacking threat under manager Andoni Iraola.

The run, which lasted just seven seconds, underlined the 25-year-old’s direct style and ability to exploit space in transition. Since the start of last season, Semenyo has now scored four goals from ball carries, a tally bettered by only six players in the Premier League.

In addition, the brace made him the first visiting player to score twice at Anfield in a league match since Leandro Trossard’s hat-trick for Brighton in September 2022, further cementing his growing reputation in England’s top flight.
