Arsenal target Cody Gakpo has delivered a frank response when asked if he will be leaving PSV this summer.
The Dutch international has established himself as one of Eredivisie’s most promising attackers, netting 21 goals and providing a further 15 assists across all competitions. And his immense output has not gone unnoticed, with the Gunners interested in bringing him to the Emirates Stadium, football.london reports.
Now, the 23-year-old has admitted that he is assessing his options ahead of the summer transfer window. Speaking to De Telegraaf, via Insidefutbol, he said: “Anything can happen this summer.
“I will now calmly compare all the options and see what is best for me. Staying another is also an option.
“It would be a shame if I went somewhere where I wouldn’t get a job at all and I could miss the World Cup. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Gakpo, who is valued at €49.7million (£42million) by CIES Football Observatory, has previously heaped praise on the Premier League’s quality, even admitting that he likes Arsenal a lot. “The Premier League is a big league,” he told The Sun earlier this year.
“Virgil van Dijk plays there with Liverpool so I like to watch them. We are not the same kind of league but I think we try to look at the Prem and learn about it.
“Everybody wants to play one time in the Prem. I don’t favour one team but I like Arsenal a lot.
“I looked up to (Thierry) Henry when I was younger because he was a tall guy who played on the wing.”
