Asamoah Gyan became a superstar in world football as he excited many football fans on the world stage on so many occasions with stellar performances. He began his football in Ghana with Liberty Professionals after excelling at the Colts level.

In an interview on YFM, the former Black Stars skipper disclosed the amount he was receiving at Liberty before going to Modena in Italy.

“I was signed for GHc500 by Liberty. That was my signing fee, five million old currency. From [playing Colts] then Liberty signed me for GHc500.

“But I was given GHc250 out of it. I even used 150 cedis of the 250 I earned to repair my older brother’s car for my personal use.
I always tell [Liberty Professionals] they owe me now,” Gyan joked.

“My first contract at Udinese, I was earning €3,700 a month. At Liberty, I was earning GHc100 a month and then I moved to €3,700. I was then loaned to Modena for two years,” added Gyan.

Luckily for Gyan, he earned enough money in his 18 years in football making him one of the richest African footballers ever.

Asamoah Gyan played in Italy, France, England, the United Arab Emirates, China and India.

Baby Jet in a fantastic career played for clubs like Liberty Professional, Modena, Udinese, Rennes, Sunderland, Shanghai SIPG, Al Ain, Keyserispor, Shabab Al Ahli, NorthEast United and Legon Cities.
