Asante Kotoko gaffer Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has reacted to his team’s historic win against Aduana Stars FC in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
Goals from Cameroonian striker George Mfegue Rodrigues and Richmond Lamptey secured a first ever win for the Porcupine Warriors in Dormaa.
Speaking in an interview after the game, Prosper Narteh expressed his joy for making history and breaking the over a decade-long jinx.
“Very satisfied, is very joyous if you make history,” the former WAFA coach said.
“These jinx have been there over the years and we’ve been able to break them,” he added.
The former WAFA boss also took opportunity to praise his players for defying the off field intimidations to produce the sort of performances exhibited on the day to seal maximum points.
“Kudos to the boys. As I told you before the game I told them that the threat, the intimidation, the fear outside the field will come but they need to stay focused and by the game plan and if you see the way we played we were very confident on the ball, we were very confident without the ball.
“We kept to our game plan keeping the ball on the turf, looking at the pocket of spaces and playing the ball through,” Narteh Ogum concluded.
The win takes Asante Kotoko three points clear off Aduana at the summit of the table despite having a game in hand against champions Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupines will next play regional rivals Ashanti Gold SC on match week 12 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
