Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has addressed the criticism directed at his team after their unexpected 2-1 defeat to Legon Cities in a Ghana Premier League match on Wednesday.
This loss not only marked Kotoko’s first of the season but also allowed Legon Cities, who were at the bottom of the league table with only two points, to secure their inaugural victory of the campaign.
Frustrated fans voiced their disappointment over the result, questioning how the Porcupine Warriors could stumble against a team struggling at the foot of the standings. In response, Ogum emphasized that upsets in football are not uncommon, stating, “It happens all over the world. He who is down fears no fall.”
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of the loss, especially given Kotoko’s strong performance in the second half, Ogum expressed the need to move forward. “It is not the best way to lose, especially if you look at the way we played in the second half; it shouldn’t have happened, but then it has. We just have to put ourselves together and move on.”
Looking ahead, Kotoko will seek to bounce back when they host Heart of Lions on Sunday, while Legon Cities will take on Young Apostles in Accra the following day.
