Eric Bekoe, former Asante Kotoko striker, has called for supporters of the Ghanaian giants to really their unflinching support behind struggling manager Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The former WAFA coach, has come intense fire and criticisms following his poor performance in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors have only amassed four out of a possible twenty-four points in the league with the latest defeat at home on Thursday 11th April, 2024 against Maxwell Konadu’s Nsoatreman FC.
Following Thursday’s loss, fans of the club, including some former players have called for the sacking of the former Black Galaxies deputy coach. However, the club’s legend Eric Kwabena Bekoe, has swiftly jumped to the defense of the under-fire coach.
“They did not have much success with the scouting system at Kotoko, nearly every player, with the exception of Justice Blay, is immature, and they are in the right place at the wrong time. In order to achieve the desired outcomes, Kotoko needs to go out and acquire more elite players” the former Ghana striker told Akoma FM in an interview.
Commenting further, Bekoe stated that: “Prosper steps in to help those who are there now, as they will need time to grow. Prosper needs time to turn things around because, like Arsene Wenger, he develops players.
“Right now, supporters should remain composed and cheer on the team in the hopes that they will be seated more comfortably.” He concluded.
Kotoko, next travel to Dawu to play Caf Confederation Cup semi-finalists Dreams FM in the Ghana Premier League.
