Asante Kotoko has officially announced the transfer of their midfielder and captain, Richard Boadu, to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi SC.
The transfer is a permanent deal, pending the completion of medical examinations.
Having begun his football journey with Asante Kotoko’s youth team, Boadu returned to the club in September 2021 after a stint with Medeama SC. During his time back at Asante Kotoko, he played a pivotal role in their success, contributing significantly to their triumph in the 2021/2022 Premier League season.
Recognizing his resilience, dedication, and outstanding performances, Boadu was appointed as the Club captain at the start of the 2022–2023 season.
As he departs, Richard Boadu leaves behind an impressive legacy, holding the record for the highest number of tackles and most duels won among his teammates.
In his final season with the Club, he scored two goals, provided five assists, and received eight man of the match awards, highlighting his immense impact on the team.
