Asante Kotoko defender Esmat Abdalhamid Hassabalbagi is set to be sidelined for six weeks following successful foot surgery.
The Sudanese left-back sustained the injury during the club’s recent Ghana Premier League match against Young Apostles.
Initially thought to be a minor knock, further assessments by Kotoko’s medical team in Kumasi revealed the need for surgical intervention.
Hassabalbagi, who has been a regular starter under head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum in the first two games of the season, underwent surgery on September 27, 2024, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
With Hassabalbagi expected to be out for over a month, Asante Kotoko will have to adjust their defensive lineup as they prepare for their upcoming match against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park this Sunday in match week 4 of the Ghana Premier League.
