Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare will be departing the club when his contract expires in June 2025, marking the end of his two-year spell with the Porcupine Warriors.
The 25-year-old has seen his playing time reduced this season, losing his spot to Guinean international Mohammed Camara. Despite discussions with the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) about extending his contract, Asare has decided not to renew, citing an inability to reach a satisfactory financial agreement.
Asare, who joined Kotoko in 2022 on a free transfer after leaving Accra Lions, has struggled for playing time during the ongoing campaign. He has made only 15 Premier League appearances, recording seven clean sheets but conceding 12 goals.
His time at Kotoko followed a successful stint with Accra Lions, where he played a key role in helping them secure promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2021.
The goalkeeper earned his first call-up to the senior Ghana national team last year but has yet to make his debut for the Black Stars, with limited club appearances affecting his national team prospects.
Sources close to Asare indicate that he and his representatives are exploring potential moves to clubs in East Africa or Europe ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
