Asante Kotoko heading to CAS to overturn Ghana FA’s ban on Richmond Lamptey

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko, have confirmed that the club is going to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) following the suspension of Richmond Lamptey.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) handed a 30-month to Richmond Lamptey following his involvement in the Inter Allies and AshantiGold match fixing scandal last season.

Ashanti Gold SC and Inter Allies both were found guilty for engaging in a match fixing of a game which ended 7-0 in favor of AshantiGold during the 2020/21 season.
The said game match 7-0 for the home side, However, waht dominated the media space was how Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah was subbed on to intentionally score deliberate own goals to spoil the supposed bets which were staked.

“Management this morning have directed our legal team to begin processes at the Court of Arbitration for Sport ( CAS ), in respect of the Richmond Lamptey’s appeal,” the club announced on Friday 29th July, 2022.

The statemant added tgat: “Management this morning have directed our legal team to begin processes at the Court of Arbitration for Sport ( CAS ), in respect of the Richmond Lamptey’s appeal.”

Meanwhile, officials and Players of the two clubs were handed hefty fines and ban by the Ghana Football Association.
