Five Ghana Premier League clubs have been impacted after their home venues were deemed unsuitable for matches following an inspection by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Safety and Security Committee.
Among the major stadiums affected are the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, home of Asante Kotoko, and the Legon Sports Stadium, which was set to be used by Accra Hearts of Oak. Other venues declared unfit include Berekum Chelsea’s Golden City Park, Basake Holy Stars’ AAK Ampain Stadium, and Young Apostles’ Wenchi Sports Stadium.
The Club Licensing Committee’s decision is based on safety and security concerns as the GFA continues efforts to improve matchday conditions and ensure the protection of players, officials, and fans.
With these venues unavailable, the affected clubs will need to secure alternative grounds to host their home matches until necessary improvements are made.
The Ghana Premier League, which went on an abrupt break, is set to resume with Matchday 23 from Friday, March 7, to Monday, March 10, 2025. However, the resumption is contingent on the ongoing safety and security inspections being conducted by the GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
